Overview
The livestock workstream was launched by Commissioner Hansen on 8 May 2025 as part of the Vision for Agriculture and Food
Purpose
It takes the form of a series of meetings gathering stakeholders, Member States, civil society and academics aiming to:
- Explore policy pathways for a competitive, future-proof, sustainable and fair livestock sector in the EU.
- Build and sustain a strong culture of dialogue, trust and multi-stakeholder participation, across the sector
- Analyse the sector’s challenges, including global competition
- Advise the Commission in the preparation of policy initiatives affecting livestock.
Membership
Members of the workstream are part of two existing expert groups: the Civil Dialogue Group on Animal Production and the Expert Group on the Common Market Organisation. They represent stakeholders from across the sector, civil society and Member States’ authorities and will invite ad hoc speakers from academia.
